Sports Tourism can boost Ghana’s Economy - Dr. Manly-Spain

Dr. Henry Manly-Spain, a businessman who is seeking to be elected President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has disclosed that the nation can reap much from Sports Tourism.

Speaking to Yours Truly in an exclusive interview, he said the 10 world champions that Ghana has produced is an attraction and people all over the world can come to see them or how they became champions.

He expressed that the boxing gyms scattered in Accra are all tourism attractions just like the Bukom Boxing Arena, the beaches and night life in the city.

According to Dr. Manly-Spain, Ghana can host world boxing championships and conventions because the nation has the facilities and very creative people.

He noted that boxing has put Ghana’s name high in world sports, so the government has the right to support the GBA and its programmes.

He promised to put in place plans and structures to give Ghana more world champions as the world championship is the ultimate in the game.

Dr. Manly-Spain said Ghana Boxing needs to be branded visibly, and all people involved in boxing will be proud.

He said the boxing fraternity needs someone who can push financially, even when government is delaying and he is prepared.

“Boxing Tourism can bring Ghana huge revenue, and we will work towards it” he assured.

He promised to work closely with the Ministry of Tourism and other allied institutions to make lives of people in boxing comfortable.

He called on the media to support boxing just like they do to football.

His campaign message is total progress, competence and transformation.
